Ansab wins the roads and infrastructure job for Al Khobar Downtown
By Staff Writer | 22 July 2026

Saudi Downtown Company, a unit of the Public Investment Fund, has awarded Ansab the design and infrastructure development works for its Al Khobar Downtown project, one of its flagship mixed-use schemes in the Eastern Province.
Ansab, a Saudi specialist in infrastructure and road networks, will design and build the project's utilities, internal roads and street-lighting systems. The package is part of the early infrastructure works that prepare the site for later residential, commercial, hospitality and public buildings.
The award follows a construction contract worth about $354.7m handed to Lynx Contracting. Al Khobar Downtown is developed by Cenomi Centers and backed by the Public Investment Fund.
The Public Investment Fund (PIF) Strategy 2026-2030 reflects a roadmap for a promising new phase.

Early works set the pace
Infrastructure packages like this one decide how quickly the visible buildings can follow. Roads, utilities and lighting have to be designed, dug and commissioned before the plots above them can be handed over, which puts a premium on clear scope and disciplined sequencing.
Part of the wider push
The contract sits within the Public Investment Fund's programme to build new urban destinations across the Kingdom under Vision 2030. For national contractors, the early infrastructure scopes on these schemes are a steady source of work ahead of the larger building packages.
With the groundworks contract placed, Al Khobar Downtown moves from masterplan to site.
