Arcadis and Tetra Tech join Irish Rail infrastructure framework

Arcadis, in joint venture with Tetra Tech, has been appointed to an Iarnród Éireann multi-party framework for rail infrastructure work, one of five suppliers on a framework with a published estimated value of up to 600m euros.
Arcadis announced the appointment on 22 October 2026. The framework is the Multi-Party Framework for Project MDC PMP Phases 1-5 let by Iarnród Éireann.
The framework runs for five years, with an option to extend it by three further periods of one year each. With every extension taken up, the framework would run for eight years in total. It gives the appointed suppliers access to opportunities to provide advisory and design services across every stage of a project's life, and it supports delivery of the All Island Strategic Rail Review.
What the joint venture will provide
According to Arcadis, the joint venture will work with supply chain partners, including IDOM, to provide design and engineering, environmental, advisory, programme management and project management services.
Arcadis says the framework will be used to deliver projects aimed at decarbonising transport, improving connectivity and accessibility, and building a more sustainable and integrated transport system. It lists network growth, capacity improvements, stronger freight and logistics capability, and wider economic and regional development among the aims the work will support.
The company links the programme to electrification of the rail network, which it says will make rail a more attractive alternative to travel by private car, and to faster, more reliable and accessible services connecting people and places across Ireland.
Selection
Arcadis says the joint venture was chosen after an evaluation that took account of its expertise, its local knowledge and its record on complex rail programmes. The company also says its proposed way of working, backed by governance arrangements and digital tools, was intended to give Iarnród Éireann confidence in the joint venture's ability to deliver safe and sustainable rail infrastructure. The release does not name the other four suppliers on the framework or give values for any individual commission.
The figure of up to 600m euros is the estimated value published for the framework across its duration. It is a ceiling shared between the five appointed suppliers and is not a sum awarded to any one of them.
Heather Polinsky, chief executive of Arcadis, said of the appointment:
The framework provides an exciting opportunity to contribute to projects that will benefit communities across Ireland and help shape the future of transport on the island.
Heather Polinsky, CEO, Arcadis
Arcadis adds that the appointment extends its partnership with Iarnród Éireann and forms part of its continued growth in Ireland.
