What the role covers

A main contractor's commercial post in the greater Dublin area, covering the cost and value management of a project from mobilisation to the settlement of the final account. The employer describes the responsibility as managing its financial interests as widely as possible while also managing the contractual relationships with the client and the supply chain, which is a wider brief than measurement. The duties named are participation in the procurement of specialist trades with appointment recommendations to the project director, assistance in drafting subcontract agreements, and the receipt, assessment and settlement of subcontract interim valuations and final accounts. Developing design information is reviewed and its cost consequences reported to the project team in good time, with value engineering opportunities identified. Monthly valuations go to the employer's representative for agreement, and monthly internal reporting covers cost against value reconciliation, turnover and projected outcome. The holder is expected to be a principal contributor to the final account submission and to give the project director proactive advice on matters of contract. A level 8 degree in quantity surveying and three years or more in a similar role are required, with training structured towards the professional competence assessment. The advertisement has been carried since October 2023. No salary is published and no closing date is stated.
