What the role covers
A post-contract quantity surveying and commercial role based in Muscat. The holder manages all post-contract quantity surveying and commercial activity on the project, administers the construction contracts and checks that each party meets its contractual obligations. Interim payment applications and payment certificates are prepared, reviewed and assessed by the holder, who also values variations and change orders and assesses claims and extension of time submissions. The work carries cost analysis, forecasting and reporting across the project lifecycle, with budgets monitored and commercial risks identified together with the measures proposed to answer them. Monthly commercial reports and cost dashboards are supported, contractor valuations reviewed and accurate financial records maintained. The holder advises project stakeholders on commercial matters and works alongside the project management, design and construction teams so that commercial objectives are met, contributing to the cost control procedures and the governance framework. The employer asks for a degree in quantity surveying, cost management or an equivalent qualification, commercial judgement, expertise in administering contracts and controlling cost, a proven record of handling stakeholders, and an understanding of sustainability.
