What the role covers
Exponent is recruiting a Principal into the dispute resolution side of its construction consulting practice, based in the New York office. The advert asks for an experienced construction disputes consultant to lead and expand the practice's delay and quantum work on large and complex projects. The post is a practice building one as much as a technical one. The named duties are developing and managing new client relationships, strategic planning to identify and secure new work, generating enough revenue to build a profitable team, overseeing client assignments, preparing, reviewing and analysing claims, and taking clients through the dispute process including litigation. On the technical side the holder prepares analyses and expert reports on construction delay, cost, damages, lost profits and lost productivity, and recruits, develops and mentors staff in delay and impact, cost and damages, and construction advisory work. The advert also expects the holder to speak at conferences, write articles and papers and run seminars. Exponent asks for a degree in civil engineering, construction management or architecture, with an advanced degree and registration described as desirable, a minimum of fifteen years in construction claims consulting and the construction industry, substantial experience of contract dispute resolution, construction claims and litigation services, and prior experience of being accepted in a formal dispute resolution forum such as a court or an arbitration. No salary and no closing date are published.
