What the role covers
EllisDon is recruiting a Planner and Scheduler for its Edmonton office. The post holder prepares master schedules for high-complexity projects in line with the contract requirements and the company's own standards, and produces schedule updates, including cash flow updates, under the EllisDon management system. Float and critical path activities are tracked and reported.
The planner sets the criticality criteria from the contract documents, identifies critical and near-critical activities, reports schedule risks and opportunities to the project team and proposes risk responses aimed at on-time completion. Reports produced by project managers and others are reviewed and commented on. The role has a direct claims dimension.
Schedules must be built so that they can support any extension of time claim, and the post holder is expected to understand delay analysis methods and to work with external delay experts on extension of time claims. The planner also works with the scheduling teams of clients, consultants and contractors on baseline schedules and leads discussions on corrective action, mitigation and resequencing.
Applicants need a construction-related degree or diploma and five years of construction scheduling experience, or an equivalent mix of training and experience, across institutional, commercial, industrial or residential work. The posting asks for Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, RSMeans and Tilos, with 4D scheduling an advantage, and the ability to write professional reports and narratives.
