What the role covers

Designer Group, the mechanical and electrical contractor based in Dublin, wants a Quantity Surveyor for its Building Services division. The post is site based in the Dublin area and reports to a Senior Quantity Surveyor. Most of the work is on the subcontract side.

The surveyor runs subcontractor accounts, assessing and agreeing their applications for payment and their final accounts, and reviews and negotiates the variations they submit so that each is properly valued and complies with the subcontract. Going the other way, the surveyor helps to compile and price the variations Designer Group puts to its client in line with the main contract.

Regular site inspections check progress and confirm that installed work matches the quantities recorded for commercial purposes. The surveyor also supports the monthly valuations, cost reports and forecasts, and keeps the records of variations, subcontractor claims and site instructions in order. Commercial issues are settled with site management, subcontractors and the client's representatives, with the aim of agreeing project accounts on time.

Applicants need a third-level degree in quantity surveying or a similar discipline and at least four years in a comparable role. Industrial sector experience is welcome but not required.
