What the role covers

Cost and contract management of hybrid solar farm and renewable energy projects, carrying the commercial position from feasibility through to final account. The posting sets out the development of project budgets, detailed cost plans from inception through the design stages, and analysis of the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning costs submitted by contractors to test them against prevailing market prices. Tender documentation is prepared where needed, contractor bids are evaluated, and the holder assists in negotiating and awarding the contracts. After award the work is cost control and monitoring, tracking cost variances, value engineering, administering change orders, reviewing and certifying contractor progress payments and negotiating final accounts. Forecasts and formal cost reports go to senior management, cost risks are identified and mitigated, and the employer's cost databank is maintained. The qualifications named are a degree in quantity surveying, commercial management, civil construction management or a related commercial subject, and five to eight years of progressive experience in construction project cost planning and commercial management, with renewable energy experience treated as an advantage. Proficiency in cost estimating methods, an understanding of construction methods and familiarity with contract forms including FIDIC are asked for.
