What the role covers
A Tokyo appointment running the commercial and contractual management of an engineering, procurement and construction contract through its engineering, procurement and module fabrication phases. The posting makes the holder the contractual interface between the project team and the contractor, responsible for seeing that obligations, rights, risks and opportunities are administered as the contract requires. The work runs alongside the project management, project controls, engineering, procurement, fabrication, commercial and legal teams, and the posting asks the holder to protect the project's commercial position while keeping the working relationship with the contractor intact. Contract administration and governance are led from this seat. The employer asks for fifteen or more years in contract or commercial management on major projects of this type, of which at least five must be in a leadership role, and for experience administering large lump sum turnkey contracts. Change, claims and dispute management is named among the technical requirements, as are contract law and commercial management, negotiation and risk, compliance monitoring and commercial reporting, and FIDIC based frameworks. A degree in law, engineering, quantity surveying, commerce or construction management is required. Japanese language ability is described as an advantage rather than a condition.
