What the role covers

A senior claims post on a large mixed-use programme in Riyadh covering sports, entertainment and arts facilities and their infrastructure, where the employer is one of the delivery partners. The holder oversees the evaluation of contractor and subcontractor claims for delay and additional cost, and directs the drawing up and formal execution of the contract papers, the warranties, the bonds and the licences with each party. Large teams are led from this post, with performance and behaviours driven against organisational indicators. Valuation measurement is overseen so that cost control, forecasting and commercial reporting hold, and the holder directs the production and client presentation of the monthly post-contract cost reports. Cost impacts arising from design changes, contract awards, construction activity and client requirements are identified early. The holder issues the practical completion certificates and advises on the defects to be made good and on the final completion. Cost consultants are led on procedures, tools and templates, with carbon reduction carried through the delivery work. The employer asks for a degree in quantity surveying or cost management or the equivalent, professional membership such as MRICS moving towards fellowship, bidding and business development experience, commercial and financial judgement, and sound knowledge of contract law, of the contractual frameworks used in construction, of life cycle costing and of value engineering, together with management experience in large teams.
