What the role covers
A quantum appointment at associate director level in the Sydney office of a worldwide engineering and technical consultancy. The role sits beside the firm's quantum experts as lead assistant, overseeing technical reports, expert reports and client strategy recommendations, and acting as a trusted advisor on dispute resolution, litigation support and expert witness evidence for construction and insurance clients. The holder authors expert reports and claims responses or rebuttals independently, and leads the quantification of cost overruns and damages, taking in measurement take-offs, delay analysis and estimate preparation. Claims preparation is led from the front: extensions of time, prolongation and disruption claims are drafted and managed for large-scale projects in dispute. Business development and the mentoring of junior staff complete the role. The employer asks for a degree in quantity surveying, commercial management, construction management or a related field, and at least ten years with a construction or engineering contractor or specialist consultancy. Experience writing or contributing to quantum expert reports is required; work on contentious claims, especially arbitration or other formal claims resolution, is highly regarded, and MRICS achieved or in progress is desirable. A near-identical posting is open in Melbourne, carried on this tab as a link to the employer's portal. No salary is published and no closing date is stated.
