What the role covers

Hill International is recruiting a Lead Cost Engineer for one of its infrastructure projects in Saudi Arabia. The post leads a team of cost engineers and sets the cost engineering strategy, methods and working practices used across the project. Duties run from preparing cost estimates covering material, labour and plant, through reviewing designs, specifications and contracts for their cost consequences, to monitoring expenditure across the project lifecycle, identifying variances and putting corrective action in place. The holder prepares cost reports, forecasts and financial analyses for project stakeholders, and works with project managers so that cost sits inside project planning rather than alongside it. Mentoring junior cost engineers forms part of the role. The employer asks for a degree in engineering, construction management or a related field and a minimum of twenty years in cost engineering, with earlier service as a lead cost engineer or in a comparable senior post, preferably on project management consultancy infrastructure work. Cost estimating software is named, CostX among it, together with analytical skill and the capacity to run several projects at once. The employer treats familiarity with the local construction market and its regulations as an advantage rather than a requirement. No pay figure is published and the board states no closing date.
