What the role covers

A contracts appointment in Madrid covering the full lifecycle of large industrial projects, with change and claims management named in the opening line of the posting. The holder develops tender and contract strategies alongside the other business functions, and supports the preparation of pre-qualification questionnaires, tender documentation, evaluation criteria and scopes of work. The posting extends that to the evaluation of proposals for front end engineering design and for engineering, procurement, construction and installation packages. Contractual and commercial matters are handled in close work with the procurement and legal teams. The posting asks the holder to manage contracts actively and to lead claim negotiations, including the resolution of disputes, and to keep records at a standard that will support the later assessment of contract variations against the contractual provisions. Monitoring the supply chain and reporting market movements that threaten the critical path is treated as part of the role rather than an addition to it. FIDIC experience is described as a large advantage. The employer asks for ten or more years in contracts management on large data centre or industrial development projects, a degree in supply chain management, engineering, business or law, an understanding of financial analysis and reporting of project budgets, and fluency in both Spanish and English.
