What the role covers

HKA is recruiting a Director to lead and expand its Construction Advisory Services practice from Chicago, Atlanta or Tampa. The work sits on the owner side of capital programmes. Engagements named in the posting include construction audits, cost recovery reviews, contract compliance assessments, change order and claims prevention reviews, guaranteed maximum price and pre-construction reviews, pay application and invoice audits, and reviews of fraud, waste and abuse. The Director also leads capital programme diagnostics, governance evaluations and project management office design, and advises clients on project controls and management information systems including Primavera P6, Primavera Unifier, Procore, e-Builder and SmartPM. Clients are drawn from healthcare, higher education, hospitality, aviation, infrastructure and the public sector. The role carries business development duties: building a pipeline, leading proposals and client presentations, and representing the practice at industry events. It also carries practice-building duties, developing methodologies and mentoring advisory staff. HKA asks for a degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, business, accounting or finance, and at least eight years in construction consulting, capital programme management, construction audit, project controls or owner representation, with a working knowledge of construction contracts and commercial management. Certifications including CCA, PMP, CCM, CPA and PSP are preferred. HKA states a salary range of 170,000 to 280,000 US dollars a year.
