What the role covers

Designer Group is recruiting a Senior Planner for its Pre-Construction team in Dublin, reporting to the Head of Planning and working with the Preconstruction Director and the Estimating and Engineering teams. The planner leads the tender programmes for the Data Centre, Energy and Industrial and Building Services sectors, from enquiry through submission, clarification and award.

The programmes are logic-linked and built in Primavera P6 from the scope documents, drawings, equipment schedules and client programmes, and cover procurement, construction, testing, commissioning and handover. The role reviews tender documents and contracts for key dates, access dates, sectional completions, liquidated damages and other programme obligations, and advises the Preconstruction team on their effect.

It also covers long-lead equipment schedules, commissioning sequences, interfaces with third parties, resource-loaded labour histograms for pricing, schedule risk analysis where required, and the programme narratives, assumptions, qualifications and exclusions that go into the bid. The planner presents and defends programmes at bid reviews and client meetings, and hands awarded programmes to the delivery planning team for baseline development.

Designer Group asks for a degree in engineering, construction management, quantity surveying or a similar discipline, at least six years in construction planning with three or more in pre-construction or tender planning, experience of building tender programmes from first principles, contractor experience and expert use of Primavera P6.
