ADNOC agrees to supply Gujarat Energy with up to four million tonnes of LNG over ten years from 2028
By Staff Writer | 7 November 2026

The sales and purchase agreement is the first sale of gas from the international portfolio of XRG, ADNOC's overseas investment company, and ADNOC's fifth LNG supply agreement in India.
ADNOC signed a long-term sales and purchase agreement on Friday with Gujarat Energy Ltd, the government-owned Indian gas company, to supply liquefied natural gas from the international gas portfolio of XRG. Gujarat Energy will receive up to four million tonnes of LNG over ten years, with deliveries starting in 2028.
Because the cargoes are to be drawn from gas that XRG owns outside the Gulf, rather than from production in the UAE, the agreement is described by ADNOC as the first sale of molecules from that international portfolio. It is also the group's fifth LNG supply agreement in India.
Up to four million tonnes over ten years, from 2028, is the first sale of gas from XRG's international portfolio.
A trading platform with three Asian buyers
The sale runs through the LNG marketing and trading platform that ADNOC launched in Abu Dhabi Global Market in July 2026. The platform has now signed supply agreements with INPEX in Japan, Gulf Group in Thailand and Gujarat Energy in India, and it targets 47 million tonnes a year of marketable LNG beyond 2030.
XRG was set up in 2024 as an international lower-carbon energy and chemicals investment company, with an enterprise value of more than 80 billion dollars. Earlier this week it agreed to buy Shell's stake in a natural gas project in Australia, one of several overseas gas holdings it has taken on.
This agreement with Gujarat Energy strengthens ADNOC's long-standing energy partnership with customers in India. It represents the first sale of molecules from XRG's international portfolio, reinforcing our commitment to delivering reliable, long-term LNG supplies.

The buyer and the earlier Indian deals
Gujarat Energy has regasification capacity and runs a city gas network across 44 districts in six Indian states, alongside a trading business. Although it is the first sale from XRG's portfolio, the agreement is the latest in a series of supply arrangements made between ADNOC and Indian buyers this year.
In January, ADNOC Gas agreed to supply 500,000 tonnes a year of LNG to Hindustan Petroleum Corporation for ten years, in a deal valued at between 2.5 billion and 3 billion dollars. In May, ADNOC signed an agreement with Indian Strategic Petroleum Reserves to expand its crude storage capacity in India to 30 million barrels.
Separately, ADNOC Gas has signed an agreement with Sharjah National Oil Corporation to look at cooperation on gas storage and processing, long-term gas supply and infrastructure inside the UAE.
For the engineering, shipping and trading firms that work with the group, the Gujarat contract marks a change of direction: ADNOC is now selling gas that XRG holds abroad, through its own trading platform, to buyers in Asia.
