What the role covers

Fulton Hogan is recruiting a Commercial Manager for its Utilities business in Adelaide, where the delivery team provides utilities services for a client. The manager is accountable for the contractual, claims, disputes, financial and project controls aspects of the project, and the experience sought is on large infrastructure projects or programmes of work.

The role leads multidisciplinary commercial support covering:

• contract management
• commercial claims
• finance
• project controls

It drives the preparation, submission and resolution of complex contract claims, both time-related and cost-based, sets and oversees the annual budget against the contractual obligations and the claims risk profile, and runs time and cost control across the programme, with monthly forecasting and monthly reports that track claims and commercial risk.

The manager is expected to negotiate the resolution of contractual issues, disputed claims and variations with the client and to keep the relationship open and consistent. Fulton Hogan asks for a tertiary qualification in commercial law, construction management, business management, engineering or a related discipline, and first-hand knowledge of major project commercial requirements gained with a large construction contractor.

Experience of joint ventures is an advantage. Candidates should be able to defend commercial positions in negotiation and to solve problems as they arise.
