What the role covers

Turner and Townsend is recruiting Lead Cost Managers for its Qatar team, on a pipeline of upcoming projects in Doha across both infrastructure and real estate. The role carries pre and post contract quantity surveying duties: cost estimates, procurement and tendering, contract administration, variations and final accounts. Pre contract work includes feasibility studies, procurement reports, and cost planning through to producing and presenting the final cost plan. On the tendering side the holder manages pre-qualification, produces the tender list, assembles the preliminaries, analyses tenders, writes the tender report and compiles the contract documents. Post contract the role deals with cost variances and the change control process, referring major changes upwards, and takes personal responsibility for cost checks and valuations on the larger projects. Monthly post contract cost reports are produced and presented to the client, and final accounts are negotiated and agreed. The holder interfaces with the client and other consultants at all project stages and, where appropriate, leads a cost management team. Turner and Townsend asks for detailed real estate or infrastructure experience gained in a professional cost consultancy, strong measurement capability, and experience of interim applications, change management, variation valuation and extension of time claims. A degree in a related subject is required, with 10 to 15 years of relevant experience, ideally in consultancy, and professional membership such as MRICS. Middle East experience is preferred. The post is full time and graded mid to senior level.
