What the role covers

The Anglian Water Strategic Pipeline Alliance is planning, designing and building about 320km of new large diameter clean water interconnector pipelines and the associated infrastructure across the Anglian Water region, and has taken on a further 260km of interconnectors beyond that. Costain is recruiting a project quantity surveyor into the alliance, based at Peterborough on a hybrid basis. The brief is contract administration at the sharp end: leading the issue of accurate, timely and compliant notices and correspondence, seeing that every contractual activity on the project complies, and giving day to day guidance and strategic advice to technical and construction staff on matters carrying risk or commitment. The postholder maintains registers of variations, delays, extensions of time and claims, raises contractual and commercial risk and opportunity with the project director or commercial manager, assists with monthly progress valuations and claims for completed work, produces pre-contract tender negotiations and reports where they are needed, and issues monthly cost reports. Costain asks for a bachelor's degree and a driving licence. The advert is permanent, gives no salary and states no closing date.
